Potter’s Creek Conservation Area is home to a new rain garden courtesy of Quinte Conservation.
The rain garden acts as a sponge to stop and filter water coming from the roof of the conservation office and parking lot. The function is to improve drainage during heavy rainfall.
Plants native to this area were planted in the rain garden. The rain barrels will sustain the new plants with a slow release of water to help during dry seasons or times of little or no rain.
Quinte Conservation is hosting a webinar where people can learn how to make their own rain gardens on October 7.
