Former Centre Hastings Deputy Mayor Shelby Kramp-Neuman has announced she’s running for the Bay of Quinte Federal Conservative nomination.
She spoke to the Lorne Brooker Show this morning (Tuesday).
The financial advisor says she’s known for a while she wanted to put her hat in the ring.
“I’ve always known at some point I was going to go for it. My life as an advisor has really been about providing security and protection and I want to do the same thing in Bay of Quinte.”
Kramp-Neuman was asked about the social and fiscal sides of the party.
“We have the cliche big blue tent but it’s really important. Naturally I think I would fall more fiscally conservative but when it comes to the social rights I believe there are equal rights and fairness and identity for all.”
While Kramp-Neuman lives in Centre Hastings which is in Hastings-Lennox and Addington riding she says the Bay of Quinte riding is just as natural a fit for her.
“Bay of Quinte is natural to me. Career for 10 years and to be honest with you most of my clients are in Hastings and Prince Edward. My girls have been involved in competitive sports in Belleville for years. Bay of Quinte just feels right to me.”
Kramp-Neuman is the first person to formally announce an intention to run to become the Conservative candidate in Bay of Quinte riding.
The candidate in the last federal election was Tim Durkin.
