The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board will dip into its reserve accounts to get set for the reopening of schools in September.
The board has decided to take $5.5 million from reserves to pay for extra services and personnel needed to protect students and staff from contracting the COVID-19 coronavirus.
The money will allow the hiring of more custodial staff to increase cleaning efforts and the hiring of extra teachers to lower some class sizes.
