Collision leads to impaired charges
On August 15, 2020 at 8 p.m., a Belleville Police officer on patrol observed a minor motor vehicle collision on Dundas Street East near Haig Road. There were no injuries reported from either vehicle involved. During the course of the investigation one of the drivers was determined to be intoxicated. Marcus England-Smith of Melrose, Ontario was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol in his blood. He was released with a September 10 court date.
Disturbance
On August 16, 2020 at 3 a.m., Belleville Police attended an east end apartment building regarding what was initially reported as a person who had been bear sprayed during an argument inside one of the units. The investigation revealed that the 34-year-old Belleville resident had sprayed himself accidentally. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and no charges were laid.
