Hastings Prince Edward will be able to hire up to six school-focused nurses for the school year.
The provincial government announced a $50 million investment to hire up to 500 additional school-focused nurses as students return to their classrooms amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The health unit says this is good news for our region, as this additional investment will further support school boards and schools as they implement COVID-19 health and safety plans, including:
- Infection prevention and control;
- Surveillance, screening and testing;
- Outbreak management; and
- Case and contact management.
HPEPH is actively planning to utilize these additional positions to augment Healthy Schools programming and will be recruiting for these positions over the coming weeks.
