Everyone is safe and sound after a rappelling mission for CFB Trenton Sunday morning.
The OPP called in the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre around 3:00 a.m.
Two canoeists were stranded on an island in the northeast corner of Algonquin Park, not far from Chalk River.
Their canoe capsized in rapids.
Due to dangerous terrain and water, the Search and Rescue Technicians could not land their Griffin chopper.
They had to drop down about 170 feet, and brought both canoeists aboard safe and sound.
