Some major upgrades to Mary Ann Sills Park will be discussed by Belleville City Council on Monday and some big dollars are needed.
The General Manager of Transportation and Operations Services Joseph Reid, will give a report to council regarding changes to the park, in preparation for the Canadian Junior Football League.
Belleville was awarded an U-22 expansion team in the east division, with their first game slated for next August.
The team plays four regular season games, and more if they go to the playoffs.
Upgrades in Phase One which would cost about $500,000, includes a bleacher system, press box, movement of a pole and lights, fencing, and internet.
Dressing rooms and other upgrades would come later on, with new turf needed in the next five years.
The group which brought the Quinte Skyhawks Football program to Belleville, No Limits Youth, is looking to fundraise part of the cost.
The recommendation is for council to accept the report and take no action at this time, with cost estimates around $2.5 million for all the work.
