Motorists in Prince Edward County will need to be aware of a number of new stop signs in the municipality.
Council voted in favour of installing a number of stop signs as well as reducing the speed limit on a couple of roads during their committee of the whole meeting at Highline Hall in Wellington on Thursday afternoon.
A stop sign will replace the yield sign on Gilead Road at the Matthie Road intersection in Bloomfield and a stop sign will be installed at Cowan Road at the Salmon Point Road intersection in Cherry Valley.
Councillor Phil Prinzen said there shouldn’t be a learning curve at the Gilead and Matthie Road intersection.
The speed limit on Cowan road will also be reduced from 70 km/h to 50 km/h.
Belleville Street will see a change in speed from 80 km/h to 60 km/h before hitting the 50km/h zone heading into Wellington.
Councillor McMahon says this was a unique ask as most asks before the traffic committee are reductions in speed.
Civil Engineering Technologist Aynsley Osborne explained the need for the new 60km/h zone.
All changes were passed and will be finalized at their next council meeting in August.
