It seems that Hastings/Quinte Long Term Care facilities aren’t experiencing the same staffing issues indicated in a province-wide survey.
Director Debbie Rollins tells Quinte News the recent budget increase for staffing hours means the facilities are working toward the provincial target of four hours of care for each resident.
The Ontario Health Coalition survey indicated that, in 150 surveys from Belleville to eastern Ontario, 95% of respondents stated they are working short-staffed.
Hastings/Quinte Long Term Care, which includes Hastings Manor in Belleville and Centennial Manor in Bancroft, did not participate in the survey.
Rollins says overall the two homes are doing well.
She adds, “It was tremendous the way they worked through COVID. I have nothing but praise for the team here and the excellent care they provided to our residents.”
