It’s back to business for the Elevate Plus program that moves the unemployed right into full-time jobs.
Elevate Plus is a joint collaboration among Quinte Economic Development Commission, Loyalist College and a number of manufacturing companies. QEDC Manufacturing Resource Centre coordinator Mike Hewitt tells Quinte News the Elevate Plus – Manufacturing classes provide skills for the unemployed. Many have found food processing jobs, but that’s not all.
About 200 people have graduated into full time jobs over the past few years, in food and non-food manufacturing.
The new classes begin August 4 in the community space at the Quinte West police station.
Meanwhile, new Elevate Plus classes for military family members are expected to begin this fall.
The new Elevate Plus – Military program will focus on non-manufacturing employers and is primarily targeted at helping military family members, or former military personnel, attain the necessary employer-defined skills to secure employment in the Bay of Quinte Region.
Hewitt says the first part of the research has been completed.
The classes will run from the fall until March of 2021.
