The relationship between the City of Quinte West and Belleville seems to get stronger with each passing day.
Many years ago it was not so, but after a lot of hard work between staff and councils over time, it has been cleaned up.
On Wednesday morning at Quinte West City Hall, another example of the relationship’s strength was shown off. A photo op took place with the new name in waste collection in the two municipalities, E360S.
The two municipalities put in a joint bid for tender, and Environmental 360 Solutions was selected.
Danny Ardellini is the CEO of Environmental 360 Solutions. He says the company is very excited to be able to work with multiple jurisdictions.
Ardellini also discussed the important of getting into the community. They are a major sponsor of the Trenton Golden Hawks Junior A Hockey Club. He says no changes will come to residents’ garbage collection.
E360S will have Scott Scaletta as the area manager to oversee Quinte West and Belleville. The Scaletta Group was acquired by E360S last July. E360S works coast to coast, including Kelowna, Calgary, Red Deer Medicine Hat, parts of northern, and eastern Ontario, and in nearby Napanee. One of their shareholders is Hockey Hall of Famer Paul Coffey, who was also in attendance at the ceremony Wednesday.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says this was a great move for the municipality.
Belleville Councillor Bill Sandison says this is an example of economies of scale.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk says one of the most important services a municipality can provide is waste service.
Officials say garbage collection for residents will not change.
The Press Release from the City of Quinte West can be seen below the photo.
Garbage trucks in Quinte West will look a little different starting August 3, 2020, as a new contractor takes over garbage and organics collection in the City.
After a cooperative call for tenders with the City of Belleville, the contract went to Environmental 360 Solutions (E360S), a company from Pickering.
The company was in Quinte West Wednesday for a photo op with Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison, Councillor Al DeWitt, Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuck, E360S Founder and CEO Danny Ardellini and E360S shareholder, former NHL defenceman Paul Coffey, local manager Scott Scaletta and City Staff.
“We’re excited for this opportunity to expand into a new part of Ontario,” says E360S CEO Danny Ardellini. “We look forward to providing residents in the Bay of Quinte with excellent service.”
New neon yellow trucks are the only difference residents should expect in their service.
Collection schedules, bag tags and all other requirements will remain the same.
Waste pick-up may occur at different times of day than residents are used to, so all waste should be placed at curbside the night before collection or by 7:00 am the morning of collection.
E360S will process organic waste at their facility on Phillipston Road in Thurlow.
Garbage will be taken to landfills in Niagara Falls and north of Cornwall.
“Working cooperatively with the City of Belleville allowed us to find the best possible solution for both cities, and demonstrates the great relationship we have with Belleville,” says Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “E360S really impressed us with their proposal. We think they are going to be a great fit to provide this important service.”
