With the Quinte area under a heat warning, the city announced Thursday that the cooling centre at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre is open through the weekend.
Hot and humid weather has persisted over multiple weeks in the area. The cooling centre is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Face masks are required at the cooling centre and are provided if necessary. Social distancing rules are in place and attendees are screened before entering. Bathrooms are cleaned hourly.
The entrance to the cooling centre is at the doors facing Cannifton Road on the west side of the building.
