Police officers with the Belleville Police Service are responding to an ever increasing number of calls for service.
At tomorrow’s (Thursday) meeting, members of the city’s Police Services Board will see statistics showing the number of calls for service in the first halves of 2018, 2019, and 2020.
In the first half of 2018 there were 10,269 calls for service, while in the same period this year there were 12,386, a 21 percent increase.
Calls involving domestic disputes, mental health issues, and assaults are on the rise.
On July 2, between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m., the Belleville Police Service received 30 calls involving one or more of those issues.
