If you thought yesterday was hot you should have been around these parts 84 years ago.
Back in 1936 on July 8 the mercury climbed to a scorching 38.3 degrees celsius or around 100 degrees fahrenheit in the Quinte area.
Fast forward to now and while it was uncomfortably warm yesterday the high was just 31 degrees.
The forecast calls for even warmer temperatures today but there will still be no comparison to 1936 when on July 9 the thermometer topped out at almost 39 degrees.
