Belleville council will get down to to business to wrap up an operations budget for this year Monday.
Some of the discussion will revolve around staff proposing to hire seven new staff members.
They would include two people in Engineering Services, a driver trainer in Transportation and Operations Services, two full-time operators replacing four casual operators in Transportation and Operations, one building inspector and another person for Environmental Services.
As presented, the draft budget features slightly lower taxes on 2019 property values despite the new hires.
Staff is holding the line on taxes by using money from reserve funds and/or putting less money than usual into reserves.
Belleville council’s budget meeting begins at 9 a.m. Monday.
