The Belleville Police Service responded to 70 calls for service from June 22, 2020 at 5 a.m. to June 23, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Crisis at Local Shelter
On June 22, 2020 at approximately 5:30 a.m., city police officers attended a local shelter in regards to a female in crisis and causing a disturbance. Officers contacted the 32-year-old female who was suffering from some mental health issues. Officers were able to calm the female down enough to assist her to Belleville General Hospital where she received care. There were no injuries or charges.
Disturbance at Automotive Shop
On June 22, 2020 at approximately 9:15 a.m., police attended a Thurlow Township automotive shop in regards to a disturbance. The police investigation revealed that a 34-year-old female patron was unsatisfied with a business transaction at the shop and was becoming aggressive. Officers were able to deescalate the situation and gave both parties advice and escorted the female off the business property.
Warrants
On June 22, 2020 at approximately 11 a.m., city police were notified by the Brockville Police Service that their officers arrested a 52-year-old Picton man in Brockville on an outstanding Belleville Police warrant. Belleville officers attended the Brockville Police Service and the accused was transferred over to them and the suspect was returned to Belleville.
The Belleville warrant is in relation to two counts of Breach of Probation stemming from an incident in Belleville in April. The accused was held for a Show Cause Hearing scheduled for June 23, 2020 at 11 a.m. in front of a Belleville Ontario Court of Justice.
Consensual Fight
On June 22, 2020 at approximately 4:15 p.m., city police were dispatched to a south east housing complex regarding two adult females fighting. Upon police arrival, officers broke up a physical fight between two adult females in the complex’s front yard. One female sustained minor injuries to the head and city EMS attended and treated her injuries on scene.
No charges were laid and both women were cautioned regarding their actions.
Suspended Driver
On June 23, 2020 at approximately 2:30 a.m., a city police officer conducted a traffic stop on Wickett Street. The traffic stop investigation revealed that the driver was a suspended driver in the province. The 41-year-old female driver was charged with Driving While Under Suspension under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. The female driver is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court on July 6, 2020 to answer to her charge.
