A citizens group concerned with the environmental effects of new development is unhappy with a recent decision by Stone Mills Township council to issue a building permit for a large hog farm near Beaver Lake and Erinsville.
Council’s experts say they have found no evidence of wetlands or a drainage channel on the property which is near north Beaver Lake.
However, the Concerned Citizens for Our Community Environments maintain that there is an intermittent stream which can’t be seen in dry times but constantly flows underground on the property where the hog farm’s manure will be spread threatening wells and other water sources.
The group will hire its own experts to investigate the matter and decide on what action to take to try and stop the development.
