The Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Unit has extended its heat warning for our region by a couple of days.
The heat warning issued last week now includes today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday).
People are advised to watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion.
It is also advised to check on those who are at a higher risk of suffering from a heat event.
Symptoms of heat exhaustion include: skin rash, muscle cramps, swelling of hands, feet and ankles, heavy sweating, dizziness, headache or fainting, nausea or vomiting, rapid breathing and heartbeat, extreme thirst, and decreased urination with unusually dark yellow urine.
If you experience any of these symptoms during a heat event, immediately move to a cool place and drink liquids. Water is the best liquid to drink.
Please remember to practice physical distancing when visiting individuals outside of your household or social circle.
