A Belleville resident is giving in a big way.
Ruth Larsen made a one time gift to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation in the amount of a quarter of million dollars.
Larsen emigrated to the Quinte region in her late 50s with her family.
She was active all her life and it wasn’t until a double hip replacement at Belleville General in the 1980s that she recognized the importance of exceptional healthcare close to home.
She said she wanted to give back to the community that has given her so much and good healthcare is important for all, young or old.
BGHF Executive Director Steven Cook says they are beyond grateful for the donation and the Foundation has some important projects coming where the funds could potentially be applied.
The timing of the gift is particularly important for the Belleville Hospital Foundation as they finalize plans for their $20 million campaign later this year.
A number of capital intensive projects are in the pipeline at BGH, including the recent Intensive Care Unit Expansion plans, nuclear medicine camera replacements and fracture clinic renovations.
