A long-awaited announcement came today (Friday).
Hastings – Lennox and Addington MPP Daryl Kramp and Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini both announced federal funding through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte will receive $916,500 towards the reconstruction of a section of York Road and the rehabilitation of the Mud Creek Bridge. Faraday Township will receive $341.515.85 towards the replacement of the Old Hastings Road bridge.
Asphodel-Norwood Reconstruction of Centre Line Road received $640,435.85 and the Hiawatha First Nation Paudash Street Reconstruction will receive $882,562.46.
Kramp says the funding will create jobs, improve local infrastructure and help kick-start the reopening of the local economy.
Piccini said it is great news for the community and his municipal and Indigenous partners that these much anticipated projects have finally received approval. They are thrilled to move forward in this process and get shovels in the ground to quickly deliver these projects to the people of our community.
The Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program is a 10-year program that provides up to $30 billion in federal, provincial and local investments in communities across the province.
The Rural and Northern stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program was launched on March 18, 2019 and closed on May 14, 2019.
