Belleville readers are returning to Belleville Public Library, following the COVID-19 shutdown, but in a very different way.
The library has been open for drop-off returns and book pick-ups during the past couple of weeks.
CEO and Chief Librarian Trevor Pross tells Quinte News that almost 10,000 items have been returned.
People have been ordering about 200 items a day for pick-up.
Pross says it will be a while before there could be normal activities such as computer use.
And in terms of the public browsing the shelves, it will be a while.
Pross added, “People seem happy with the process and everyone’s following the rules to stay with the (two metre) distancing. It seems like it’s going well. If people have fines we will erase them. Don’t worry.”
“In terms of the other parts of the programs, and the story times and the events, and having those in-person rather than just digital, it would be great but it’ll be probably be several months before we’re back to that.”
