The number of speeding tickets handed out in Quinte West last year was a lot higher than in 2018.
But there was a good reason for the well over 60% increase in tickets.
Quinte West OPP took over Highway 401 patrols between Belleville and Brighton for much of last year.
In 2018 just over 2,000 speeding tickets were written.
Last year the number soared to 3,346.
Previously the Napanee (now Lennox and Addington) OPP detachment handled the 401 in this area.
