There is an outbreak of a sexually transmitted disease in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
The local health unit reports there have been 26 cases of gonorrhea reported between January and May, almost double the number of cases reported in the same five months last year.
The rate of gonorrhea infection has been steadily increasing over the past five years.
Gonorrhea is the second most common sexually transmitted infection after chlamydia and the health unit has made self-serve testing available.
