It’s been a school year like none other because of the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s ruined the fun, pomp, and pageantry of proms and other graduation ceremonies.
However, the Hastings and Prince Edward School Board is making sure that the students graduating from high school, those in grade 12 won’t go unrecognized in the community.
The Board is distributing almost 1,200 lawn signs celebrating the “Class of 2020” to homes where the graduates live from the seven high schools in the two counties.
“It’s the perfect time to celebrate the graduating class of 2020. This year will be remembered by many of us as the year of the pandemic. More importantly, I believe we need to celebrate our students, their perseverance and accomplishments in spite of it—and the lawn signs are a unique way to do that. We hope students and their families place them in prominent locations for themselves, their families and their communities to celebrate with them,” said Sean Monteith, Director of Education.
