Car Accident – Fail to Remain
On June 14, 2020 at approximately 11:30 a.m., city police were dispatched to a southwest restaurant regarding a motor vehicle collision that occurred in the drive thru window lane. Police report that a vehicle, for an unknown reason, reversed in the drive thru window lane and struck the vehicle that was behind. The suspect vehicle then proceeded to leave the scene of the collision. Police attended and collected some evidence and statements and believe they have identified the suspect driver. City police will be attempting to make contact with the suspect. Possible charges pending.
Suspended Drivers
On June 14, 2020 at 11:45 a.m., a city police officer was patrolling in the sout east residential area of the city when he spotted a driver commit a traffic violation for failing to yield. The officer conducted a traffic stop. The investigation revealed that the driver of the stopped vehicle was a suspended driver within the province of Ontario.
A 31-year-old Belleville man was charged with one count of Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Under Suspension and one count of Failing to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway. The accused is scheduled for court on July 6, 2020 to answer to the charges.
On June 14, 2020 at approximately 6 p.m., a city officer conducted a traffic stop on Foster Ave. at Pine St. The investigation revealed that the driver was a suspended driver in the province of Ontario. The 43-year-old male driver was charged with the following offences;
- Operation of a Motor Vehicle While under Suspension
- Permit Unlicensed Person to Drive Motor Vehicle
- Owner Permit Operation of Motor Vehicle on a Highway with No Insurance
The suspect vehicle was removed from the scene by tow recovery. The accused is scheduled to attend Provincial Traffic Court on July 6, 2020 to answer to his charge.
