Parking changes are coming in Prince Edward County.
On Thursday during a virtual Committee of the Whole meeting. councillors approved a motion to reinstitute paid parking in Picton as of July 1, as well as put two hour limits in the commercial cores of Bloomfield and Wellington.
Councillor Ernie Margetson wanted to know what the current time limits are in the two hamlets.
Director Community Services, Programs and Initiatives Todd Davis:
Margetson was also concerned about signage and Davis said they wouldn’t be installing new signage, they would be modifying current signage to reflect that parking is for only two hours.
Councillor Phil Prinzen wanted to know what would be classified as the commercial cores of Bloomfield and Wellington.
Davis said he couldn’t give the cross-streets at this time but he’d work with by-law to include that information in the by-law brought forward to council at a later date.
He also said they will try to address some of the concerns raised by the Picton BIA this year as the budget allows.
An upcoming parking study that is being undertaken by the municipality will also include some of the concerns expressed by the Picton BIA.
