Belleville Police Service responded to 80 calls for service from June 9, 2020 at 5 a.m. to June10, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Theft resulting in Charges
On June 9, 2020 at 2:45 p.m., police responded to a business on Bridge Street West regarding a shoplifter. Police arrived and conducted an investigation that revealed a 36-year-old Belleville man, Terrance Gray, attempted to steal items from the business and he was breaching his probation. As a result, Terrance Gray was arrested and charged for Theft Under $5000 and Breach of Probation x 2. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was released on an undertaking, given a court date of August 13, 2020 to face the charges.
Breach of Conditions results in Charges
On June 9, 2020 at 9:50 a.m., police took a report regarding a 23-year-old Belleville man who was breaching his release conditions. Police conducted an investigation that revealed the male was breaching multiple conditions of his release. Subsequently, the male was located and arrested for Breaching his Undertaking. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for bail.
Liquor Licence Act Charges
On June 9, 2020 at 12:25 p.m., while on downtown foot patrol, police observed a 50-year-old Belleville man who was contravening the Liquor Licence Act by having open liquor. As a result, the male was charged under the Liquor Licence Act for having open liquor and was issued a Provincial Offences Notice.
City Police also report a fairly steady 24-hour period ending at 5 a.m. on June 10, 2020. Police responded to several incidents that ended peacefully with police intervention. Those incidents included numerous noise complaints, disturbances, domestics, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, animal complaints, and calls to assist ambulance.
