The national hiring outlook for the third quarter of 2020 isn’t looking good.
According to a report from the Manpower Group, just 12% of Canadian employers are planning to increase their payrolls in the third quarter of the fiscal year, with 17% anticipating a decrease and 60% not expecting any changes.
Manpower says those hiring intentions are the weakest reported since the survey began in 1978, down by 19% compared to the second quarter and down by 21% when compared to the third quarter of 2019.
Locally, researchers weren’t able to get a clear picture of what the hiring climate may be like, since there weren’t enough businesses open in various sectors to get that information.
