As the world is faced with the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Quinte & District Association of REALTORS ® (QDAR) is helping to ease the economic challenges faced by some of the hardest hit within our local communities, where our Members live, work and volunteer.
QDAR is announcing an emergency grant donation of $4,200 to Gleaners Food Bank, through the Ontario REALTORS Care ® Foundation to help those facing food insecurity.
In addition to its own Food Bank, Gleaners operates the Tri-County Warehouse that serves seven other local area food banks and QDAR has requested the funds be distributed throughout these local food banks within our communities which include:
Helping Hands Food Bank – Marmora
Helping Hands Food Bank Deseronto – Deseronto
North Hastings Community Cupboard – Bancroft
Northbrook Food Bank – Northbrook
Picton United County Food Bank – Picton
Stirling Christian Community Care – Stirling
Store House Wellington and District Food Bank – Wellington
“Local Realtors are involved within our local communities on numerous levels and see the challenging reality many are living within these days.”
Basic needs are being stretched to the limit and the local food banks are also seeing their resources tighten.
“We are pleased to be able to assist our local communities with this financial donation, with the hope of easing a burden many families worry about,” said Heather Plane, QDAR President.
The funding was distributed by the Ontario REALTORS Care Foundation (ORCF), an organization that has supported shelter-based organizations throughout Ontario since 1977.
In 2019 alone, the Foundation raised more than $1.2 million for shelter-based organizations
