It was the coast guard to the rescue early yesterday (Saturday) afternoon.
According to Today’s Northumberland a Toronto man in a styrofoam boat was drifting away from shore without a lifejacket and with a broken paddle near Colborne.
The Cramahe and Brighton fire departments were called in, as was the Canadian Coast Guard, at around 12:30.
The man’s boat was partially submerged when it overturned throwing him into the cold water.
Luckily, the coast guard vessel was nearby and he was pulled out and brought to shore.
There were no injuries.
