The Belleville Police Service responded to 49 calls from June 6, 2020 at 5 a.m. to June 7, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Unwanted Person, Trespassing
On June 5, 2020 at 8:30 a.m., police attended a Moira St. West residence in regards to an unwanted female who forced her way into the residence. Police removed a 43-year-old Belleville resident from the property and charged her for Trespassing under the Ontario Trespass to Property Act.
Injured Cyclist
Police responded to an injured cyclist call on Maitland Drive on June 6, 2020 at noon. Reports revealed that the cyclist was coming down a slope on Maitland Drive and lost control, rolling the road bike and crashing into the ditch. The cyclist received moderate facial and head injuries and was transported to the Belleville General Hospital by city EMS to have his injuries treated.
Warrants, Drug Possession
On June 6, 2020 in the late afternoon, city police arrested a 42-year-old male Belleville resident on an outstanding warrant for breach of probation. During the investigative arrest, officers located a small quantity of crystal meth on the accused. The accused was charged with two counts of Breach of Probation and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The accused was held for a bail hearing scheduled for June 7, 2020.
Disturbance
On June 6, 2020, police attended a south end hotel in regards to a male violently trashing one of the hotel rooms in the afternoon. When police arrived on scene, they were met by a violent 56-year-old man. Police determined that there were some mental health issues and apprehended the male for his safety. Police escorted the man to Belleville General Hospital to receive care.
Drugs, Breach of Probation
On June 6, 2020 at 7:30 p.m., city police stopped a male on Ann St. known to police and also known to have an outstanding warrant with the Ontario Provincial Police out of Centre Hastings. The 46-year-old Stirling resident was arrested on the authority of the warrant. During the search of the accused, officers located a small amount of cocaine on his person which contributed to the accused now breaching a probation order. The accused was charged with the following criminal offences.
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Breach of Probation
- Breach of Undertaking Conditions
The accused was held in custody and will appear before a Justice in Provincial Court for a Show Cause Hearing on June 7, 2020 to answer to his charges after which he will be turned over to the Centre Hastings OPP on their outstanding warrant.
