COVID-19 has had a large impact on the world as we know it, and has also had an impact on traditional galas and other events.
The annual TMHF gala which takes place in October is no exception.
While the 2020 gala committee was busy preparing for the region’s premiere event, they were presented with the challenge of hosting an exciting, engaging and one-of-a-kind event for their guests while seating everyone six feet apart.
The first ever Virtual Gala is set for October 17. Guests will be entertained through a live broadcast which can be accessed exclusively for those who have tickets on October 17.
New this year will be an online auction where anyone can bid from anywhere over a longer period of time.
The auction will be filled with items of quality and variety – possibly some shiny baubles since ‘Diamonds are Forever’.
The latest electronics, getaways, and one-of-a-kind items are just some of the exceptional items to entice bidders.
The virtual gala and live auction will take place from 7 -9 p.m. on Saturday, October 17. The cost is $200, (with a full charitable tax receipt) and will include your exclusive access.
The gala will raise funds for critically needed Ophthalmology equipment at Trenton Memorial Hospital, which is the Centre of Excellence for Ophthalmology for QHC, doing all the cataract surgeries for patients from Deseronto to Picton, Bancroft to Colborne.
Drs. Kevin Lachapelle, Terry Sakamoto, Andrew Davies and Sohail Safi are the main ophthalmologists operating out of Trenton Memorial Hospital.
“We will be encouraging our guests to channel their inner ‘Bond, James Bond’ or Bond girl for the elegant evening or if they prefer, they can opt for their favourite comfy clothes as they join in from their own homes.” Says Wendy Warner, Executive Director at TMHF.
This year, more than ever before, it is evident how much impact sponsorships and donations can have on our hospital.
