It was a tale of two halves as far as the weather was concerned in May in the Quinte region.
The first half of last month was cold with the temperature dipping to below minus 3 on May 9.
However, the second half was warmer than usual with the mercury climbing to a steamy 30.4 degrees on the 26th.
In the end the average high last month was 18 degrees Celsius which is close to normal for the month of May in this region and the average low was just under 6 degrees, a little colder than usual.
Meanwhile, the Quinte area received only about half of the rain it would normally get.
The usual amount for May is almost 80 millimetres but only 42 mm fell last month.
