The Belleville Police responded to 69 calls for service between May 30, 2020 at 5 a.m. and May 31, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Domestic Dispute
On May 30, 2020 at 2:10 p.m., officers attended at the Pirate Ship park in regards to a suspicious vehicle. Further investigation revealed that a male and female were in the midst of a verbal dispute. After speaking with both involved parties there was insufficient evidence for any charges. They were separated for the day and no further action was necessary.
Theft
On May 30, 2020 at 7:45 p.m., police attended a business on North Front St. in regards to a theft. A male and female entered the store and while the male was shopping the female entered the staff room. She went through an employee’s purse and removed car keys, a wallet, running shoes and a cell phone. Both parties then left the store. A short while later police called the cell phone and a female answered. She advised that she had located credit cards and the cell phone in the parking lot of the business. The property was returned to the victim. The two suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On May 30, 2020 at 10:05 p.m., police were dispatched to Chatham St. north of Victoria Ave. in regards to a female who had been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle had left the scene. Police received information that the female was walking north on Chatham near the east curb. The female was struck from behind. The Belleville female in her 20s was transported to BGH by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. She was discharged from the hospital later in the evening. Police are looking for a white car with possible damage to the hood area. The vehicle is also described as having a damaged rear bumper.
