Belleville city police say they have charged a Belleville man with one count of assault and one count of uttering threats on Friday.
Around 10:30 a.m., police were called to an apartment building on the north end of Sidney Street to a report of an intoxicated man threatening tenants in the hallways of the building.
Upon arrival, officers contacted the man in the hallway and found him to be heavily intoxicated and somewhat combative.
Police took 26-year-old David Card into custody. Several witnesses provided police with details of the altercations leading to the charges.
The victim in the incident sustained only minor injuries.
Card was released with a court date on August 20 to answer to the charges.
