Over a dozen people stranded on an island in a remote part of northwestern Quebec made it safely home Friday.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton was asked by Quebec police on Wednesday to get food, fuel and supplies to the 13 people stranded because of poor sea ice conditions.
A Search and Rescue CC130H Hercules from Winnipeg’s 435 Squardon made the delivery.
On Friday, a CH-147H Chinook helicopter from 450 Squadron was sent to pick them up, but all managed to make it home that evening when conditions improved.
