A local winery is celebrating a major achievement at a recent international wine competition.
A silver medal was won by Potter Settlement Artisan Winery in Tweed, at the Concours de Lyon International Wine Competition held in France.
Winery owner Sandor Johnson says their 2018 Cabernet Franc took second spot.
He says the competition features 40 countries and more than 7,600 entries.
You need to pay $1,200 to enter the competition, and send over a case of wine, which runs another $600.
The credit he says belongs in part to the minerals in the soil, 242 to be exact. A place like Niagara has 17 different minerals, while in Prince Edward County, it is around 15.
Johnson says they are the only Canadian winners in 2020 at the competition.
