The Picton Business Improvement Association is asking Prince Edward County council to extend free parking in the downtown through to the end of the year.
The BIA will make a presentation at council’s virtual meeting tomorrow night saying that the new ticket-based parking meters in downtown lots were not being well received by customers in the downtown.
The BIA will tell council that the COVID-19 crisis has made life even more difficult for businesses and that extending free parking to the end of the year would do a lot to help them.
Council previously had allowed free parking with a two-hour maximum because of construction from March 31 until June 1.
