OPP have confirmed that a person was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Highway 401 east in Belleville early today (Monday).
The incident occurred at 1:45 this morning and OPP, Hastings-Quinte paramedics and Belleville firefighters responded to the scene which was just east of Highway 37.
Police say the person killed was an adult but no other information will be released pending further investigation.
Lennox and Addington OPP ask that anyone passing through the area at the time of the incident or has dashcam video contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
Highway 401 east was closed for close to seven hours but is now open.
