A well-known, respected and liked retired member of the Belleville Police Service has died after a lengthy battle with illness.
Mike Graham, in his mid-60s, also served as a councillor during the last term of city council.
Graham joined the Belleville Police Service in 1982 and rose through the ranks to eventually retire as an Inspector in 2013.
“He was a local guy who came up through the ranks in his hometown and knew a lot of people”, said the Chair of the Belleville Police Service Board Jack Miller. “That familiarity led to people having a certain respect for him as an officer. He was involved for years with Project Longarm and helped take a lot of drugs off of our streets. From a personal perspective I’ve known Mike for over 40 years and I know about his passion for our community and all of the good he’s done for us over the years.”
Funeral details have not been released.
