The Belleville Fire Department is hoping council will agree to purchase eight new pieces of hydraulic rescue equipment when it meets Monday afternoon.
The department says its current “jaws of life” and other hydraulic tools were bought in the ’90s and are nearing the end of their useful life.
Replacement parts are also scarce.
Fire officials recommend council approve spending around $128,000 to buy the tools made by Hurst and sold by Code 4 Fire and Rescue.
A total of $130,000 has been set aside in this year’s budget for the equipment.
