The owners of businesses of all kinds are anxiously hoping that they can reopen in one way or another in the very near future.
Included of course are the owners of businesses focused on tourism.
The warmer months fast approaching are the busiest times for tourism and a reopening of the provincial economy can’t come soon enough for those in the business.
Meanwhile, the staff at the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board has been working in the background preparing a major multi-media advertising campaign in preparation for the reopening of the economy.
“We need to go gangbusters as soon as we have a solid timeline on when tourism businesses can get going again and get out there and attract visitors to our area”, says Marketing Board Executive Director Dug Stevenson. We are working with small business to get onboard with the campaign and provide incentives and we want to drive multi-night stays at local hotels and elsewhere. No one wants to lose the summer months!”
Stevenson says people can’t wait for May 12 which is the day Premier Doug Ford is to provide detail on when and how the economy will be restarted.
“With a firm timeline we will know when to start the campaign”.
For the past several weeks the Marketing Board has provided information on what businesses are open and on how local businesses are continuing to serve customers even during the shutdown.
The information is provided through 2 programs, “Dug’s Doorstep Deliveries” and “Making it Work”.
