April building activity was down substantially in Belleville compared to 2019.
The city issued 51 permits last month, with a construction value of more than $8.1 million, compared to 67 permits in April last year, with a construction value of over $20.6 million.
Twenty-five of the 51 permits issued last month were for new home builds, two were for new commercial builds and the rest were for various renovations and upgrades.
To date, the city has issued 196 permits valued at a little more than $23 million, which is about $5.8 million less than was brought in from building permits during the first four months of last year.
