A Belleville man is facing a slew of charges after trying to resist arrest following a domestic assault.
Belleville Police were called to an east end residence around 11:50 p.m. Saturday night regarding a domestic assault in progress.
The woman was able to escape the home, but reported to police that the suspect had been consuming cocaine, meth and a bottle of raid.
When officers arrived the man took off on foot but was caught over a kilometre away by police.
Officers say the man became violent trying to resist arrest and spat on one of the officers. Police say they eventually subdued the man using a taser.
A 26-year-old Belleville man was charged with a 22-count information including:

• Breach of probation x6
• Uttering a death threat x2
• Assault peace officer
• Resisting a peace officer
• Possession of a schedule I substance
• Intimidation
• Assault with a weapon x3
• Assault x3
• Assault cause bodily harm
• Breach of probation x6
• Uttering a death threat x2
• Assault peace officer
• Resisting a peace officer
• Possession of a schedule I substance
• Intimidation
• Assault with a weapon x3
• Assault x3
• Assault cause bodily harm
The man also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for two other breaches of probation stemming from another incident earlier this year. He is being held for a show cause hearing on Sunday.
