The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County Detachment arrested an impaired driver.
On Thursday April 23, 2020 shortly before 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a call of a motor vehicle collision on County Road 3 in Ameliasburgh Ward.
Officers arrived and located a vehicle on its side in a field.
With the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit, the driver was located. As a result of further investigation, the driver, Jacob McCumber, age 27 from Prince Edward County, was arrested and charged with:
- Operation While Impaired
- Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on May 20, 2020.
He was also given a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
