On Wednesday, April 22, 2020 just before noon, officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a mischief and assault on Picton Main Street. Officers arrived and spoke with the resident who stated he was assaulted and had property broken inside his house. The individual had left on foot.
Shortly thereafter, officers received another call on Elizabeth Street of another mischief. It was confirmed this was the same individual and that a TV and motor vehicle were damaged inside a garage.
Officers located the individual on Mary Street and arrested the suspect.
A 35-year-old male from Picton has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Mischief – three counts
- Assault
- Theft under $5000
- Unlawfully in a dwelling house
