Fraud
Police remind the public to be vigilant when dealing with people going door to door offering services. On April 22, 2020 at 1:15 p.m., police responded to an incident where persons offered a tree removal service. The parties were paid up front to remove the tree yet took the money and left the area. No identification or business particulars were obtained from the suspects and police were unable to locate the involved persons.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On April 22, 2020 at 4:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Sidney Street and Bridge Street West regarding a two-vehicle collision. There were minor injuries sustained by one of the drivers and minor damage reported. The at fault driver was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act and released on a Provincial Offences Notice.
City police report a relatively busy 24-hour period ending at 5:00 a.m. on April 23, 2020. Police responded to several domestic disputes that ended peacefully with police intervention. Police also investigated numerous noise complaints, suspicious persons and vehicles, traffic complaints, neighbour and family disputes, animal complaints, and calls to assist ambulance.
