Dr. Max The Moose is the new ambassador for the Belleville General Hospital Foundation (BGHF) as it embarks on a $20 million campaign in 2020.
The charity’s first mascot has been making his journey down from Algonquin (practicing social distancing of course) over the past four weeks as part of a fun, online, teaser campaign developed by BGHF.
Passing by various townships, the larger than life character’s aim is to raise further awareness of the Hospital while healthcare is very much front of mind for everyone.
The new “face of fundraising” represents part of a build up for BGHF as they embark on an ambitious campaign for Quinte Health Care over the next five years, with the organization’s mission to inspire community giving at all levels.
“We think Dr. Max is fantastic,” commented BGH Executive Director, Steve Cook. “He’s a great addition to the team and will help to personify our brand, giving us a new face for community engagement.”
BGHF is very conscious of the seriousness of COVID-19 and are encouraging people to stay at home to flatten the curve.
Cook says “We feel Dr. Max can play a part in social distancing through photo shopped visuals. Max will become an icon that is aligned to donations and will support for the Foundation while we cannot get out to do cheque presentations due to COVID restrictions.”
Cook adds “We at BGHF think it’s hugely important to recognize our community heroes that are doing so much for us during this time.”
As well as adding entertainment value to any future events, post pandemic, this larger-than-life character will play an important role supporting the BGHF’s fundraising efforts, engaging children and community groups online. The 6 foot 5-inch furry Moose will be featured in some creative social media and marketing initiatives throughout the year, while the charity also hopes individuals and organizations holding fundraising activities in 2021 will invite Dr. Max along to help raise awareness about the importance of supporting the needs of patient care services at BGH.
The forthcoming campaign features some important capital intensive projects at Quinte Health Care -Belleville General Hospital, the regional secondary hospital, with critical priority projects including the Nuclear Medicine Camera replacements, Intensive Care Unit expansion and Fracture Clinic renovation currently on the agenda.
Current BGHF Board Chair Patricia Guernsey said, “We are lucky to have such great health care close to home for the residents of Belleville and beyond. Dr. Max will be a great community ambassador for us, helping to spread awareness in the importance of social distancing, supporting front line healthcare, while being visually appealing as an additional branding tool.”
