Prince Edward County is joining other municipalities in trimming spending in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic slowdown it’s caused.
The county and other communities are losing revenue at recreation facilities, and facing higher costs dealing with the pandemic.
Deferred property taxes will cause cash flow problems.
In response the county hasn’t been renewing or extending contracts for seasonal workers and at least for the time being, summer students won’t be hired.
Infrastructure projects will continue and essential services will continue to be delivered.
