With families spending more time at home, Belleville Fire is encouraging parents to use this time to teach their children about fire safety.
There are numerous online resources available for free to assist parents with this. These online lessons, games and downloadable activities are a great way to keep children busy while teaching them the importance of practising fire safety at home.
To help with this, we have listed a few fun and helpful online resources for parents to explore:
-
sparky.org – Games, videos, apps and downloadable activities/stories to keep kids busy, entertained and learning at the same time.
-
sparkyschoolhouse.org – Resources to share, videos to post and even mini-lessons for parents to do at home.
-
ready.gov/kids/kids – Emergency preparedness lessons for kids and teens.
-

“As more and more parents are working from their home office and/or having older children look after their younger siblings, it is more important than ever for children to understand fire safety,” said Belleville Fire Chief Mark MacDonald. “These free online resources are fantastic teaching tools while at the same time, are interactive and fun for kids.”
